Round table on the 300th anniversary of the 1st Orthodox Christian mission to Beijing
11 Dec. 2015 at 3:00 p.m. the National Kyiv – Pechersk History and Culture Reservation Site hosted a round table dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the arrival of the 1st Orthodox Christian mission to Beijing, a unique institution in the history of the Orthodox Christianity and international relations in the regions of Central and Eastern Asia. For a long time the mission served as the only training center for interpreters of Chinese and Manchu languages in the Russian Empire. Most of mission members graduated from Kyiv Mohyla Academy. The event was initiated by the A.Krymsky Institute of Oriental Studies, NASU.
